What is ABA?

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. It's a method of teaching that has proven to be very successful for children with autism and many other children with special needs. To read a professional opinion describing an appropriate therapeutic intervention for a child diagnosed with an autism-related disorder (including PDD, autism, Aspergers), go to:  http://www.featbc.org/why_lovaas/letter.html  (be sure to click the Back arrow to return to this site).  Although I am not a professional behaviorist, I do have over 12 years of experience and training in ABA therapy and teaching my son with autism.  When my son was younger, we used the Discrete Trial Training (DTT) form of ABA which resulted in amazing progress.  As he got older, we moved to using Verbal Behavior techniques which are less structured and "rote" compared to Discrete Trial Training.  I teach my clients how to use one or both of these methods of ABA to teach their own children.

I can help you to implement ABA principles in your child's educational program.
